I've always believed that the most important piece of lab equipment is a good question. As a high school science teacher, I design inquiry-driven classrooms where students investigate authentic phenomena, make sense of evidence, and develop the confidence to communicate their thinking. I teach Biology, Marine Biology, and Astronomy, and my passion is integrating disciplinary literacy into science instruction. I believe reading, writing, speaking, and argumentation are not extras in science, they are how science is done. My graduate research explored how students' word choice reflects their conceptual understanding, reinforcing my commitment to helping students use scientific language with purpose and precision. I'm passionate about creating classrooms where every student is positioned as a capable scientist and communicator. I enjoy sharing practical strategies that help students read like scientists, write with clarity, and engage more deeply with the phenomena they explore. I hope educators leave my sessions with ideas they can immediately use to make science both rigorous and accessible.
