Faith Howard is a 6-12 Literacy Specialist for Sublette County School District #1 in Pinedale, Wyoming. She has 16 years of experience in education, having taught high school English in three different states as well as helping to found a charter school in Denver and serving as a Director of Curriculum & Instruction. She is a Nationally Board Certified teacher, a graduate of William Jewell College (2009) with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Secondary Education and English, and the University of Wyoming (2021) with a Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction. Faith is particularly dedicated to supporting "forgotten students" who struggle with literacy, helping them overcome challenges and thrive. She has created a Literacy Lab class that is a tier 2 & 3 intervention to shore up gaps for struggling adolescent readers in foundational reading skills. Using the Science of Reading and a unique approach to "high-school-ize" interventions and materials that have historically only existed for elementary students, her work centers on accelerating students' reading, writing, and vocabulary skills while supporting them with grade-level text and content. This empowers them to gain greater confidence in fluency, background knowledge, vocabulary, morphology, reading comprehension, and writing! Faith also currently serves on the leadership board for The Reading League Wyoming. Outside of her professional life, Faith is a devoted wife and mother, and enjoys watching or playing sports and spending time outdoors with her family.
