Jen Rios-Alers is passionate about helping educators translate the science of reading into practical, high-impact instructional practices that improve outcomes for all students. With more than 30 years of experience in elementary education, including 13 years as a classroom teacher and 17 years as an instructional coach, she has been recognized for her expertise in developing data-driven schoolwide intervention systems and supporting teachers in implementing effective literacy instruction. Jen began her career in Greeley-Evans School District 6, where she taught third, fourth, and fifth grades before transitioning into instructional coaching. She has spent the past 17 years serving as an instructional coach and currently serves as both the READ Act Specialist and Literacy Coach at Maplewood Elementary School. In these roles, she partners with educators to strengthen literacy instruction, build effective intervention systems, and ensure every student has the opportunity to become a confident, successful reader. In addition to her work in schools, Jen has served as a literacy consultant with Collaborative Classroom, facilitating professional learning and delivering professional development for educators across the United States. She believes that investing in educators through meaningful coaching and collaboration creates lasting change for both teachers and students. When she is not supporting educators and students, Jen enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
